Geraldine "Gerrie" Byrne

Geraldine (Gerrie) Byrne of Calgary, formerly of St Albert, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the age of 98 years. Gerrie was born in Hanna, Alberta to Cyril and Katherine Coughlin. After graduating as a registered nurse from the Holy Cross Nursing School in 1941, she met and married Jim Byrne. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League and was a lifelong, devout catholic. Gerrie is survived by her five children, Maureen, Brenda, Kevin, Paddy, and Kathleen; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim; sister, Patricia Coughlin; and her grandson, Darcy Dodds. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 14 St SW, Calgary) on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 10:00 am.
