It is with deep sadness that we, Dietmar Waschmann and Rita Ortiz-Waschmann, announce the passing of our son Gabriel Waschmann-Ortiz on October 12th, 2018.
Gabriel was born in Calgary, Alberta on a sunny day of July, 21st of 1996, and came to light up our home and the hearts of many family members and friends. He is preceded by his grandfather Horst Waschmann, his grandfather Miguel Angel Ortiz and his grandmother Sofia Angelina de Ortiz (Mima).
Our dearest Gabriel lived his life to the fullest. Since very young, Gabriel enjoyed gymnastics, hockey, snowboarding, skiing, bicycling and especially skateboarding. His favourite word for many years was his personal tag: KOS (Keep On Skating). Gabriel was a visual artist who had a real talent for drawing since a very early age. Gabriel enjoyed working on cars and anything mechanical, but most than anything he enjoyed helping friends, challenging minds, questioning the universe and had a great talent for debating. During his recent years he took every opportunity he could to go camping with his friends.
Despite all his desire for living, diabetes took a toll on him and eventually caused his passing. KOS our deeply loved angel.
Eternal rest grant unto your servant Gabriel, O Lord, and eternal light shine upon him.
