Evelyn Shyluk

Evelyn Shyluk passed away peacefully at Bethany Harvest Hills surrounded by her family on December 24, 2019 at the age of 77 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband John, her son Jeffrey, and her daughter-in-law Susan. Evelyn will be remembered with love by her brother Bernard Buzik (Helen), her sister Joan Buzik, and her nieces and nephews, Tony Buzik, Nathan Buzik (Ashley), and Hannah Cassidy (Sean). She was predeceased by her brother Richard Buzik (Shirley), and her parents John and Ann Buzik.

Evelyn was born in Krydor, Saskatchewan. She was a talented artist and teacher who received her Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Regina in 1977. Evelyn had students from elementary and high school. She also taught adult classes in Art Appreciation. Her students gained the greatest appreciation of their lessons attaining the ability to find solutions to their problems through fine art.

Evelyn enjoyed travelling with John throughout Canada, Europe, South East Asia, the Southern US, and Mexico. While touring she especially enjoyed sampling local culture as well as visiting art galleries and museums.

Her family and friends are deeply grateful for all the care and affection Evelyn received during her long struggle with Alzheimer’s. A special thank you goes to all the staff, students and volunteers who provided outstanding, loving and compassionate care to Evelyn in her later years.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services (5502 2 Street SW) on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 6:30pm.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Parish (1100 Berkshire Blvd. NW) on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
