Eleanor Telka Rapczewski (Ruff) Bergen

Eleanor fell asleep in the Lord peacefully on Monday November 4, 2019, at the age of 39. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Kace Bergen; her sister Monica (Jeff) McNamara and nieces Sofia and Belyn; her brother Philip; her brother Matthew; her parents Olga and Ron Ruff; as well as numerous dear cousins and friends.

Eleanor was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, on February 9, 1980, later moved with her family to Calgary, and has spent most of her adult life in southern Alberta.  Eleanor was Mom to Kace, and loved to take him on hiking expeditions, fishing, hunting and to search for fossils. Nothing made her happier than watching him zoom around outside on his dirt bike and play with his friends. He was her pride and joy; he made her life complete.

Eleanor enjoyed her career as an insurance broker and found it very rewarding to help others. She loved being outdoors and in the mountains; she left the city as soon as she could, to go back to the country that she loved. She enjoyed horseback riding, and went on the Wild Pink Yonder rides around southern Alberta to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. In 2011, Eleanor was diagnosed with breast cancer, and underwent multiple surgeries and treatments, which seemed to be successful. She lived the past 8 years freely, and in the spring of 2019, started to notice some symptoms and pain returning. Her diagnosis in June was devastating; it was hard to hear how aggressive her cancer had returned. Eleanor approached all of this with the strength and spirit with which she lived her life. She will be remembered by her cousins and friends for her independent nature, beautiful singing voice, and willingness to help.
