Earl Cheney

Earl was born in Calgary, Alberta on December 14, 1928 to Henry and Katherine Cheney, the oldest of three children. The family moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan when Earl was eight. In 1968 Earl moved back to Calgary. He worked at Burns Foods as a food chemist, working his way to Product Development Manager. His greatest accomplishment was developing Breakfast Grill. Before retiring in the 1990s he worked at Gainers.Earl served in the reserve army for thirty years as a Captain.Earl married Marie Kowbell in 1957 and had two children, David and Terry.
Earl and Marie were long-time members of St. Mary's Cathedral and volunteered with Inn from the Cold. Marie predeceased Earl in 2014 and Earl thoroughly enjoyed his final year living at AgeCare Seton. Earl passed away gently in his sleep at the Foothills hospital on Monday, August 7, 2017.
He will be sadly missed by his son David and his wife Katrin, son Terry, grandchildren Julian, Eva, Natasha and Daniel, step-grandchildren Andrea and Melissa, great-granddaughter Zoe as well as his sister in-law Gloria Terlecki and the Terlecki family. Earl was predeceased by sister Fern and brother Bill. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral (219 - 18th Avenue SW) on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Edenbrook Memorial Gardens.
