Douglas John Nielsen

Douglas John Nielsen passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at the age of 74 years, with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather. All of Doug’s life was spent working in the construction industry, where he loved his job and made so many friendships and memories. When he retired he became an avid gardener, growing lovely lilies and tomatoes. Doug also spent many hours of fishing the Kootney Lake, inviting anyone who would go with him. Doug is survived by his wife, Janice, of 54 years; sons: Rod (Janet) and Cliff (Terri); grandchildren: Amanda, Brad, Caitlyn, and Tyler; great-grandchildren: Hanna, Wyatt, and Liam; brother, Ray (Georgia); sisters: Janet and Holly (Henry); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Strathmore Branch #10 (230 – 2 Avenue) on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
