It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Jane Kingsmith (nee’ Howg) announces her passing on October 11, 2019 at the age of 83 years. Dorothy was born on July 20, 1936 in Lethbridge, Alberta. She was the second youngest and eventually there was a total of ten sisters and one brother. The family moved to Calgary in spring 1949 where she met Robert, the love of her life. Dorothy loved nothing more than getting together with family & friends, playing cards, having parties, reading, listening to music, walks and volunteer work. She will be lovingly missed by her children, Janet (Mike), Jodi (Gary) and Jeff; her five grandchildren, Shawn (Stephanie), Michelle, Gage, Lucy, and Senna; her great granddaughter Halle; her sisters, Morna, Betty, Lynn, Darlene; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Robert; her mother and father, Emma and Magnus; her brother Clarence, whom sadly was killed in WWII; and her sisters Ellen, Lillian, Alma, Estelle & Nina. A celebration of life will be held at Lutheran Church of the Cross (10620 Elbow Drive SW) on Tuesday October 22, 2019 at 1:30pm. If friends so desire, and in lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to Chinook Hospice (https://ahpca.ca/hospices-intercare-chinook-hospice/). Heartfelt thanks to family, friends, all EMS personnel, doctors and nurses at the South Campus Hospital and Chinook Hospice. The kindness, care and comfort given to Dorothy in her time of need was greatly appreciated. There are truly angels on earth.
