The family of Dale Dickson is deeply saddened to announce his sudden and unexpected passing. He is survived by his loving life partner, Marla (Fraiberg); his three beloved sons, Erik, John and David; Marla’s daughters, Bella and Leah; his parents, Harvey and Patsy; his sister Joanne (Jonathan Peters); as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of friends.
Dale attended the University of Saskatchewan where he attained his Bachelor of Commerce degree and later his C.A. designation. Dale began his career in Regina, for TransGas (SaskEnergy). After marrying, a career decision resulted in relocating to Calgary where he worked for Duke Energy. He achieved success there in several business ventures, which included being a co-founding partner in the Kitimat LNG project.
Dale was a successful individual who remained humble and always strove to keep his family and friends close. He had an open-door policy, loved entertaining friends and family, and even reserved a sofa for the furry friends. During his formative years, Dale was active in many sports. He especially loved football, rugby and hockey. Dale played U of S Huskies football and continued to support the team as an alumnus. He continued this love of sports by supporting his sons in their sporting endeavors, as a father, a coach and an active volunteer in maintaining his local rink.
Dale made many friends over the years and his loyalty is evident in the connections he has maintained to this day. During this difficult time, many have expressed their love for this larger than life, soft-hearted goof who laughed at his own jokes and whose memory will forever leave an impression in their hearts. Dale will be dearly missed by all his “Mugsies”.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dale’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Synaptic Spinal Cord Injury and Neuro Rehabilitation Centre. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Calgary Golf & Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 16th, 2018. The memorial service will start at 5:00 pm with a reception to follow. Please note their dress code policy (no denim).
