Corrado Privitera

Corrado Privitera passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta. He was born on January 7, 1924 in Pachino Italy to Raffaele and Salvatrice Privitera. He married Giovanna Collura and they had two daughters before they immigrated to Canada in 1958. Corrado was married to Giovanna for a wonderful 68 years before his passing. Left to remember Corrado are his wife, Giovanna; his daughters, Salvatrice (Sebastiano) Cultrera, and Angela (Diego) Arfo; his sister, Maria (Corrado) Sortino; and a brother in law, Tommaso Maltese. Also left to honour his life are his many grandchildren, Corrado (Dawneen) Cultrera, Francesca (Jason) Simms, Angelo (Tammy) Cultrera, Corrado (Daniela) Arfo, Maria Rita (Giuseppe) Interlante, and Giovanna Arfo. Corrado was also fortunate enough to have many great grandchildren, Jordan Cultrera, Alexander and Nikolas Simms, Apollo and Abella Cultrera, Roberta and Giulia Arfo, and Salvatore Pio Interlante.

Corrado was a man with many talents. He had a real gift for music and he could be found most days playing the accordion or tapping a few notes on the piano. If he wasn't near an instrument he was usually whistling a tune while playing cards. He loved to spend time with his wife walking in downtown Calgary or in the piazza talking politics con i suoi amici a Pachino.

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 - 14 Ave NE) on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10:30 am.
