It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Corbin John De Raaf on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the young age of 23 years. He was a son, brother, grandson, boyfriend, cousin, nephew, dog and cat dad, honorary uncle, and friend. Corbin was born on June 7, 1995 and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He was a loving, social, radiant, positive, and handsome young man. His parents, John and Joel; siblings, Delaine, Abby, and Bryson; and the love of his life, Savana Roy are all devastated that his life was cut short. Corbin was sober for three and a half years. In the last few weeks of his life, he struggled with his demons of addiction. Unfortunately, this time they won and Corbin lost his battle. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Donna Gilbertson; opa and oma, John and Janny De Raaf; best friend, Rory McCann; and numerous great-aunts and uncles. Corbin’s infectious smile and bright blue eyes could light up the room. He was quick-witted, sarcastic, opinionated, and would leave everyone laughing. His enthusiastic demeanor and love for cars led him to a short, yet successful, career as a salesman. He really could rope anyone into a car deal...except for his mother. Celebration of life will be held at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino (1000, 11500 – 35 Street SE) on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Charitable Foundation of the Family (130, 4029 – 8 Street SE, Calgary, AB, T2G 3A5; 403-278-0249; http://familycharity.ca/). Arrangements in care of EVAN J. STRONG FUNERAL SERVICES. (403) 265-1199
