Clémentine Marcelle (Witters) Durant

With very profound sadness, we wish to announce the passing of Clémentine Marcelle Durant on Sunday, May 13, 2018. “Madame Durant” was born and raised in Uccle, Belgium. She then moved to France when she married her husband Jean, and came to Canada in 1951, settling in Calgary. She worked tirelessly and proudly with Jean to raise their family in their new country, all the while fiercely maintaining and promoting French language, heritage and culture. Family, faith, morals, values, education and traditions were the cornerstones of her life. “Mentine” was a devoted wife, a cherished Maman, a doting and generous Bonne Maman, and a gifted teacher and educator. She believed, as her father had, that the more she learned, the more she realized that she knew nothing. Her quest for knowledge and her strive for perfection in everything were unparalleled and were her signatures in life. Maman et Bonne Maman will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her daughter Christiane, and her husband Ion Campbell; her beloved grandson Tristan and Noelle Makey. She was predeceased by her husband Jean in 2005, and her son Johan on April 20, 2018. “La vie continue….mais sans toi, Maman et Bonne Maman chérie”. A private Memorial Service has taken place.
