Andy Puczko, beloved husband of Patricia Puczko (nee’ Beal) passed away peacefully with his family at his side on September 30, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, he spent his formative years in Maple Creek, Medicine Hat and Regina. Andy earned the Certified Management Accountant (CMA, RIA) designation in 1964, his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1971, and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in 2015. He commenced his working career with the CPR as a telegrapher, working throughout Southern Alberta, and Leduc for 8 years. Andy then moved to the oil patch, working with Schlumberger for 10 years in Edmonton and Calgary. He then joined Jacobs and Rolfe, Chartered Accountants which later merged with Deloitte, where he retired as a partner in 1988. Andy was never idle, spending his free time and retirement pursuing his many hobbies including painting, stamp collecting, golf, flying (fixing mostly) model airplanes, playing the mandolin and violin, and travelling with Pat around the world. He always served in an executive capacity on boards of the clubs that he joined as well as with his church and his condo association. Andy was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as finance chair for 10 years and Grand Knight of the Paddy Nolan Council for 2 years. Andy was predeceased by a brother and sister in Slovenia, and his parents Joseph and Veronica in Calgary. He is survived by Pat, his loving wife of 64 years; his brother Tony (Ilene); his sister Margaret (Danny); his five children, Gerry (Dina), Maureen (Dave), Brian, Ray (Eileen) and Jim (Davorka); his eight grandchildren, Andrea, Lisa, Ryan, Janice, Tanya, Krysten, Allyson and Vanessa; and 5 great-grandchildren, Samuel, Amélie, Hudson, Callahan and Mila. Andy owes his longevity to Dr. Glenn Gould whose gentle persuasion to exercise was heard if not always practiced. The family wishes to thank the staff at Dulcina Hospice for their kind, respectful and dignified care of Andy. Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive NW) on Friday, October 4, 2019 11:00am.
