Alan Kirk Obituary

On this beautiful day, with the sun on his face, Alan was called onto his next journey. Alan leaves behind his beloved wife of twenty-five years, Mendy, as well as their daughter Leasa (Squirt), and son Taylor (Tee). The eldest son of Judith Ubaldi and step-father Erzi, of Calgary, and Wally Kirk and step-mother Jennifer of Edmonton. Alan also leaves his sister, Heather (Ryan) Sandboe of Stony Plain, and nephews Colin and Morgan. Alan was predeceased by his little brother, Murray Kirk in 2009.

Some of the most treasured time Alan spent with his family was camping on Vancouver Island at Miracle Beach, Goldstream Park and Rathtrevor Beach. Over the past five years Alan came to love cruising and he and Mendy enjoyed exploring many islands of the Caribbean. Because of his enjoyment of travel, Alan quit his biggest vice in life, smoking, this past April. Alan carried the itinerary of the next cruise in his wallet for inspiration.

Alan’s real passion in life was music. Playing tuba in junior high, Alan was asked to play for the High School Band (no one else would). Friends recall Alan toting the tuba across the conjoining fields’ winter and summer. He also played both bass and classical guitar. Alan spent much time with good friends on School tours with the Band Drama and Choir. Don’t forget the “Brick “went too.

Alan graduated from Ernest Manning High School in 1976 followed by graduating from SAIT in 1982 with a Diploma of Technology in Broadcast Electronic Technology. He then worked in radio behind the scenes for many a Flames game. Alan moved to Vancouver in 1990 where he continued to work in radio. In 1992 Alan followed his dream by moving to Victoria on Vancouver Island, beginning his career with Shaw Cable. Alan’s work led him to move with his family back to Calgary in 2007. He finished his career in the alumni at SAIT where he worked as a Technical Support Technician for the School of ICT at SAIT.

The family would also wish to thank the staff of unit 102 at Foothills Hospital for the care Alan received.

A celebration of Life will be held on October 21, 2018 at 2pm at Lake Sundance - 63 Suncrest Way SE Calgary, AB.
