Abraham "Bob" Toren

TOREN, Bob (Abraham)Bob Toren, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 p.m. in Dulcina Hospice - Covenant Care, Calgary at the age of 73. Bob was born April 22, 1944 in Scheemda, Holland. He immigrated to Canada with his family in May of 1953. Bob is survived by his wife Helen of 50 years, son Michael (Dana Parenteau), sister Wicky (Adrian) Uitbeyerse, sister-in- law Margaret (Fred) Bosch, brother-in-law Gerard (Nellie) Toeters as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Bob worked as a journeyman welder until he suffered a brain aneurysm in February of 1990. Despite physical and cognitive disabilities and in later years dealing with heart disease, hip fractures, leukemia and interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, Bob maintained his positive attitude and extraordinary sense of humor. He inspired so many to live and laugh, even when life knocked him down. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 290 Edgepark Blvd NW, Calgary on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Published.
