William Mentis

Our beloved father and grandfather passed away on June 9, 2017. Our father was born July 12, 1925 in Patras, Achaea, Greece. He first came to Canada in the late 1950's to join his brothers. He later returned to Greece in 1963 where he met his love and soulmate Stavroula. They married later that year then returned to Calgary to start a new life together. He was a loving father and grandfather and was loved by all. He's was always joking around and made those around him smile. Dedicated and hard working, his family was always his top priority. He is survived by his loving wife Stavroula, his son Gus and his two daughters Mary and Angela. His four grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent SW) on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 11:00am, with the Rev. Father Peter Rougas, Presider. Graveside service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Website: www.cancer.ca/donate).
