Welcome to the memorial page for

Trevellyan (Treve) Craig Piper

January 11, 1933 ~ September 12, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old
It is with great sadness, after a long illness, we announce the passing of Trevellyan (Treve) Piper on September 12, 2017, at the age of 84, with family by his side. Treve was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the second of three children, son of Alice and Carl Piper. He was raised in the rural farming community near St Francis Xavier. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent his entire career working in the oil industry. He met his wife Anne, a nurse, in Estevan, Saskatchewan. They married in Edmonton, moved to Drayton Valley, then to Williston, North Dakota where his daughters were born, eventually settling with his family in Calgary in 1969. Family vacations were important to Treve with trips to Hawaii, British Columbia and the family farm in Manitoba. After retirement, Treve and Anne spent many winters in Thousand Palms, California and enjoyed the company of his brother Eric and sister in law Estelle. Treve enjoyed many activities such as gardening, golfing, curling and fishing and even got his pilot's license as a young man. He was a dedicated Flames fan and enjoyed watching all sports especially later in life with Anne. Treve was fair and known for his honesty and integrity. Friends were important to Treve; if you were a friend of Treve's you were a friend for life. He was the strong and silent type but had a quick wit and sense of humour. He displayed a stern exterior but if you could get him to smile it would light up the room. His biggest priority was his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. There was a special place in his heart for his family pets. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and farming background. Treve is survived by his loving wife Anne; his daughters Karla (Kuno) and Tracy (Vince); his grandson Hugo; his brother Eric; his nephews Marshall (Jeanette), Gary (Jody), Dale (Michele); and his niece Valerie (Darren). He was predeceased by his mother Alice, his father Carl, his sister Jean and his sister-in-law Estelle. Treve was loved and respected by family and friends and will be dearly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Dr SE) on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11:00 am. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Treve's family through www.evanjstrong.com. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Father Lacombe Care Centre (270 Providence Boulevard SE, Calgary AB, T2X 0V6; 403-256-4641; http://www.flnh.net), Diabetes Canada (220 6223 2nd Street SE Calgary AB T2H 1J5;1-800-226-8464; https://www.diabetes.ca) or Parkinson Association (316 - 4211 Yonge St, Toronto ON, M2P 2A9; 1-800-565-3000; http://www.parkinson.ca).
