Ruby Margarette Mellom

Ruby was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan to Wes and Jean Ferris. Upon High School graduation, she worked and traveled across Canada for a few years until her high school sweetheart, Norton, married her and brought her back to Northgate to farm and start a family. Ruby was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her compassion for others was remarkable as was her spirit for helping her community. She was involved in Women's Hospital Auxiliary, Canadian Legion, UCW and Bowness Senior's Centre. In their retirement, Norton and Ruby moved to Calgary to be closer to their family and watch their grandchildren grow. Ruby loved to travel; visiting Canada, USA, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and places in between. She always loved to go for a drive in the country, enjoy the scenery and get an ice-cream cone. Ruby will be lovingly remembered by her husband Norton and by the family legacy they built together: children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, along with their spouses and Ruby's sisters-in-law. A special thank you to the nurses, caregivers and staff at the Agape Hospice, Comfort Keepers and the Foothills Hospital. Memorial donations may be made to Agape Hospice in lieu of flowers. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bowness Senior's Centre (6422 - 35 Avenue NW) on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to share stories and lunch.
