After living courageously with Alzheimer's and Lewy Body disease, Rae went to be with his Lord on his 82nd birthday. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Carolyn, his parents, Frank and Lottie Howe, his sister Jean (Leinweber) and his brother Paul. Besides his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara, Rae leaves to mourn his son Cliff (Denive); daughters Kathy (Mike), and Joanne; six grandchildren: Taylor, Jackson, Hilary, and Sam Howe and Jacob and Emily Lusk; his 'baby' sister Carol (Alec) Kerfoot; brother Dan (Fern); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rae attended school in Fertile Valley and Acme Alberta. He graduated from the U of A with a BSc in Civil Engineering in 1958 and in 1967 he obtained a Certificate in Town Planning from the U of Manitoba. He worked from 1961 - 1972 for the Yukon Territorial Government. In 1972 he and his family moved to Calgary and Rae worked for the National Parks until he retired in 1996. The family would like thank the staff at the MDE unit at Bethany Calgary for the care and compassion provided to Rae and to the family. The physicians, nurses and staff are living proof that 'there are angels amongst us'. Rae was very active with the The Gideons most of his adult life. He shared their mission to communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ through personal evangelism and Scripture distribution. A celebration of Rae's life will be held at Bonavista Evangelical Missionary Church (1509 Lake Ontario Drive SE) on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 3:00 pm.
