November 1, 2016 Calgary
With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Marg Comer on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
She was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Mable Hall of Lacombe, her sister Shirley Parkin, brother Percy, youngest daughter Gail (Greg Major), and son-in-law Erwin Kloos (Barbara). Marg is lovingly remembered by husband Robert (Bob), daughters Pat Comer (Mike Bourns) and Barbara Kloos (partner Dan Marshall), sons Ken (Susan) and Gordon (partner Ron Lascano), and son-in-law Greg Major, nine grandchildren and one great grandson. Marg was raised on a mixed farm west of Lacombe. After high school she graduated as an R.N. from the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton (class of 53), and worked in High River, where she met Bob. They married in March, 1955, and had a wonderful life together for 61 years, rich in family, friends, golf and travel. They lived in various small towns, Regina, Edmonton, and finally settled in Calgary for the past 49 years. Marg was a busy person, volunteering in the Girl Guides of Canada and the Queen Elizabeth High School Cafeteria Association. She loved to spend time with her grand children at the cabin on Windermere Lake. Marg was a keen golfer at the Calgary Elks Club, and was the queen of chipping. She was a talented seamstress, particularly enjoying quilting during the latter half of her life. She kept a beautiful and productive garden, and enjoyed her Sheltie dogs. The last 2 years she enjoyed living with Bob at the Manor at Garrison Woods in Calgary. There will be a Celebration of Life at Parkdale United Church (2919 8 Ave NW) on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favourite charity.
